The School Weekly 24th January 2022

On the occasion of Nation Girl Child Day, we reiterate the mission of our school which focuses on creating equal opportunities for girls in the field of education. The school has been striving since 1992 to support, strengthen and empower girls for a meaningful and ambitious life.

Do listen to Ms Bimla Bissell, the wife of Fabindia’s founder, the late John Bissell, on her views and aspirations for the girl child.

Empowering girl child through education at The Fabindia School

How I got empowered
My name is Swabhi Parmar and I completed my schooling from The Fabindia School in 2013.I joined the school back in 2006, The moment I drove up to The Fabindia School I knew this was going to be the school for me. Not only did I love the atmosphere, my mother loved it too. The school is on a nature reserve which makes the learning environment a peaceful and beautiful place to learn and study. Each and every teacher I had not only taught us the syllabus that I understood, but they also all taught us morals and how to be upstanding citizens.
I'd also like to mention that I was a scholarship student for the entirety of my education at The Fabindia School. It was an honour for me and many other girls. "Empowering the girl child through education" was the school's motto. It gave the school's female students a lot of opportunities. As a student, the school taught me life lessons, and co-curricular activities aided in my overall development. And today, I am glad to tell that I have been employed as an educator at The Fabindia School for the past four years. From a student to an educator, it's been an incredible experience. The Fabindia School is not your typical school. I considered it my safe haven.  If I could give any advice to parents or students considering this school, take advantage of the wonderful opportunities that The Fabindia School has to offer.

My Life Journey
Twelve years I was cut off from all kinds of educational activities, it was a tough time to be disconnected from the things I loved and enjoyed. I worked as a housewife looking after my kids, in-laws and the other family members. It was contentment to be able to look after your family but my passion to do something about my educational persuasions and my eagerness to learn more & more was equally bothering me. I was sure that some day I will be able to make my way through. My motto was, ‘Where there is a will there's a way’ and that did not allow me to lose hope. The ray of hope along with my strong will power, positive attitude & confidence helped me to find my way out. My passion for reading helped me to keep in touch with my studies.
As a girl child I had faced many challenges. I come from a society where girls are only given elementary education. Everyone opposed that I should drop out after eighth but because my parents supported not just standard eighth but I am an alumnus of Sophia High School. Then I completed my graduation from MLSU, Udaipur. I did my post graduation in English & B. Ed. from IGNOU, New Delhi.
Troubles didn’t stop here, to take up a job was like climbing Mt. Everest but I patiently overcome this obstacle too . I wanted to do something for the girl child. I wanted to help the girl child of the rural area and when I heard about The Fabindia School & its motto to empower girl child through education I thought I could do something for the girl child and so I joined The Fabindia School in 2004 as I wanted to work for my own growth and work for the all round development of the students.
As time passed I have groomed my personality & have also learnt a lot. I with the Fabindia team, have also worked a lot in creating a healthy learning & quality environment for the students. To develop core skills in the students we established a platform in 2012 where the students could express their ideas & creativity. This is where the journey of the School Weekly started. The School Weekly all these years have been instrumental in building peer-to-peer relationships, shaping their perspectives, opinions & identity.
Since 2012, the Editorial Board of the School has put together 499 editions and we celebrate our 500th edition on 24th January 2022.
Thanks to all who contributed enthusiastically in keeping this platform alive and rockin. With time the weekly has become more creative & nurtured the skills of the students. The young minds are bubbled with fresh ideas and the weekly was the best way to capture it in a creative manner. The weekly has played a pivotal role & built communication between all stakeholders.

My Experience
It was 2006 when I entered the gates of The Fabindia School, I was so happy and keen to join this new school as every kid is, got new books, bag and notebooks.  All my note book had the name of the school written on them, “The Fabindia School” but these notebooks had something had something very different and unique too, below the name of school there is a line written 'Empowering the girl child through education’ I was quite baffled at that point of time that what does it mean! Then as days passed on I got to know that, this was and is the motto of the school. As Bali happens to be rural part of Rajasthan this school was conceptualised with a motto of empowering the girl child. Earlier girl child was not given that much of chance to study, so with this vision the school tries to empower and encourage girls to study.
This might looks very fancy to see or hear but when it's come to the execution it’s not that easy, to make this possible the school used to wave off full fees so that the parents could afford education for their girls too. This is to encourage the locals to send their girl child to get better education . Empowering  is a process enabling individuals to understand the relationship between their actions and outcomes, allowing people the power to achieve the results they desire. School got tremendous success as the admission ratio was 1:1 at a point of a time and I was so happy to see the vision taking the shape and happy to be part of this beautiful and courageous family as an alumnus and an educator at the school.

My experience of being member of editorial board
I had always seen the news weekly sent to my class group. And had also seen some seniors wearing batches of editorial board and I was always curious that what is an editorial board? And then I learned that the editorial board is a group of students and teachers who publish our school weekly. I always wanted to be a part of this group and finally I got this opportunity and became a member of the editorial board. It was completely a new experience for me. I have learned a lot from this place and will continue to learn. Encouraging children to write, reading articles written by them and doing corrections, all the tasks made me develop my writing and reading skills a lot. Earlier, when someone used to ask me to write, then it was very difficult for me, but till now I write my own articles and post them on the weekly, now if someone asks me to write on any topic, it would be easy for me. My view on the editorial board is that it is a place where children get to learn new things. Here students themselves are the editors. It helps in developing responsibility taking skills in students. It also improves my vocabulary as I get to learn new words when I read the posts. I am very grateful to the teachers and principal ma'am for having an editorial board in the school.

A Step Of Being Responsible
I have been studying in The Fabindia School since last 11 years. As I grew up, I have got many opportunities to communicate with people through essays, articles, paintings, sketches, etc. during my primary and middle school. But as I have now entered in high school, I have been getting responsibilities. In 2021, I became one of the member of Editorial Board. Before, I wasn't aware about what actually the Editorial Board is but then I came to know that it is the groups who edit and publish all the news and events of the school for the school weekly. It was really exciting for me. I started collecting articles and some creative art works of the students. I learnt a lot while editing those things. I also learnt to see things in different perspective. I started to know things that didn't know before. It helped me gain knowledge about various things and my vocabulary also improved. I am very beholden to the teachers and Principal Ma'am for providing the students responsibilities regarding the Editorial Board.

The Fabindia School - Building careers for tomorrow
I've been a student at The Fabindia School since 2010. My school does a lot for us, including news and weekly events, which are very significant for our future. What does this mean for our future? Yes, it is really significant since it allows us to assess our abilities and determine how good or poor our language is, as well as develop our thinking power.
Also, we can learn about what is going on at our school by reading the news weekly, just as we can learn about what is going on in our country by reading the newspaper. I've been a member of the editorial board for a year and have noticed or felt several changes in myself, such as improved language, writing, and thinking. As a result of this evolution, I propose to all of us that we not only study but also participate in extracurricular activities that will benefit us in the future.

Fabindia School : Source of Motivation
I have been studying in the Fabindia school since 2013 . Here students are involved in so many activities and that's the best part of our school. Since the weekly was started in our school in 2012 . As I was a kid I never knew about the weekly. When I was in 7tn or 8th standard. I usually see the articles with the pictures hung on the boards of each block. I always wondered who did all these efforts. Then I came to know that members of the editorial board do all this. I have always seen my seniors wearing badges of the editorial board group, and I always wished to be a part of the editorial group. But when I joined the editorial board's group I was a little nervous and scared that I will able to do all my duties properly and the tasks or not. But while doing all the work I realized that it is not a very big task to do. Our role typically requires a few hours of every week on tasks such as consulting with editors, recruiting authors, or reviewing opinions. While doing all this work we developed so many qualities in us, we felt more responsible and it also became more discipline and communication skills. While weekly is being published each it inspires the children to write because articles are published in weekly with the name of the writer and with their pictures. When other students see weekly it inspires and motivates the students to write.I am very thankful to the Principal ma'am and teachers for giving us the opportunity to be a part of the editorial board group.

According to me, friendship is not just a simple word, it is an emotion. Friendship is important in life because it teaches us a great deal about life. We learn so many lessons from friendship which we won’t find anywhere else. Friendship never leaves us in bad times. Good friends are vitally important to your mental health and the quality of your life. In short, true friendship is what gives us reason to stay strong in life. Having a loving family and all is okay but you also need true friends to be completely happy. Some people don’t even have families but they have friends who are like their family only. Thus, we see having true friends means a lot to everyone. Friendship makes us stronger. There is no doubt that best friends help us in our difficulties and bad times of life. Friendship is very essential for a happy life. Even a two-minute chat with a friend will make us forget our worries. That is the strength of friendship. Friendship is the most valuable as well as a precious gift of life. The quality of friendship is essential for happiness. True friends are needed in every stage of life to survive.

I drew this sketch over a month ago with just a 6b pencil and a mechanical pencil. A
nd I think there is a deep meaning in the sketch, this sketch shows how people pretend to be fine from the outside but inside they are depressed and they are suffering from a lot of problems So we should not treat anyone wrong because we don't know what difficulty he/she must be going through

Praising anybody for his or her task can increase the confidence of the receiver. The word "Appreciation" looks smaller from outside but can help achieve anything if used properly. This word is the most powerful word to motivate someone. If someone is appreciated for a certain task then that person gives best in all further tasks. This word is motivating, carrying huge power inside and can turn negative thoughts into positive. Many organizations and multinational companies are known for the culture of appreciation. This is the main reason behind the happiness of their employees.
Everyone in this world loves to receive appreciation for their task. If someone has done something for you then saying 'thank you is a formality'. But if you provide some motivational words like "good work", "keep it up", or "excellent" along with 'thank you' then next that person will work with twice energy.
Appreciating someone's efforts is not an act that makes you feel shy but it's an act that shows your character. This act shows that you are living down to earth. Therefore it's  necessary to appreciate a person whenever possible. It is a good way to make things easier and simpler.
If appreciation is used properly, benefits are assured. Thus try to appreciate anyone instead of finding faults in anyone and you will see the changes for yourself.

My Soul
I carefully write the word
hoping it’ll save a soul
We need all of that in the
world, life’s always been the goal.
If someone only wanted me
how life is beautifully painful
maybe the truth would’ve seen
still I’ve been hopeful.
It’ll all be okay
heaven will show me good
one day in every way
I will be understood.
My soul; I promised to save
I’ll find out what it all means,
so much love I’ve got to give.

Our Earth is the only beautiful planet that has life. The Earth formed around 4.5 billion years ago. That shiny blue marble that has fascinated humanity since they just began to walk across its surface. There are some interesting facts about earth:
• Earth is mostly iron, oxygen, and silicon. If you could separate the earth out into piles of material, you'd get 32.1% iron, 30.1% oxygen, 15.1% silicon and 13.9% Magnesium.
• 70% of Earth's surface is covered in water.
• Earth doesn't take 24 hours to rotate on its Axis. It takes 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds for the earth to rotate once completely on its axis.
• A year on the Earth is actually 365.2564 days, which creates the need for a leap year.
• Earth has 1 moon and 2 co-orbital satellites.

PC :
Practicing the position of a leader is known as leadership. For example, when someone works in a company, then there is a requirement of a leader who can take control or charge over a team so that the company can run smoothly. Leadership is a necessity of almost each and every organization as it helps to increase the chances of achieving the organizational goal. One of the famous leaders of our country, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, said that “I suppose leadership at one time meant muscles; but today it means getting along with people”.
Leadership Comes from Experience Although we have discussed above that sometimes leadership is innate, it also comes through experiences. Leadership is not always about the inbuilt qualities of people because sometimes it takes a long period of time to learn the best qualities of a leader so that one can become a prominent one. As a leader, one should always try to look for experiences that will make him or her a better leader.

Determination for Success
Nothing is impossible if you wish
Every hurdle can be moved if you push
There are opportunities don't miss
You already know there is a big rush
If you don't move somebody will crush
March ahead with enthusiasm afresh
what you need is true dedication
A ton of zeal and strong determination

The World is not static, it's in motion
It will move ahead with you
Or without you, do you view?
Great mission is accomplished
Noble target is achieved
Only when desire meets determination
Determination is the sole determination
Which defines the final resultant
Winner or loser among many a contestant
Determination is not variable, it's constant
Luck is variable which may change at instant
Difference between success and failure is determination
When physical strength exhaust
And you still keep moving
Then be sure almost
It's nothing, But your determination…!

The kind of girl who loves
The kind of girl who loves
watching romantic movies but never admits it.
The kind of girl who dreams about falling in love
but locks the door when love comes and knocks.
The kind of girl who doesn’t slap makeup on face
but is silently insecure.
The kind of girl who watches horror movies but closes eyes
at embarrassing scenes.
The kind of girl who loves traveling
but is afraid of driving.
The kind of girl who feels alone in crowded
but still keeps composure.
The kind of girl with a messed up head and fussy thoughts
with absurd food craving and mental state that
toggles between depression and normal mood.
I am that weirdo who feels lost.

'Time' this word looks very small but the whole world is running by it. Time plays a significant role in our lives. If we better understand the time value, then it can gain experience and develop skills over time. Time can also heal things whether external wounds or feelings. Time helps us to make a good habit of organizing and structuring our daily activities. No one can escape the passing of time. The best proverb on time is “Time and tide wait for none.” It is better said by someone. Everyone should understand the value and importance of time. In today's arena we have many such examples that we see that people have no time . But they are wrong , they are not respecting time . They spend their time in only social media or in today's world sinking in someone's eyes. Talking to someone for an hour without any reason, wasting time in playing games, waiting for the messages to whom we sent etc. We should understand the value of time . Time is precious partly for the reason that we are all only allotted a certain amount of time in our lives, and so we need to make sure that we use it wisely. Time management is paramount and understands the value of the time. Those people do their work on time and understand the value of time, and then they never get the embarrassment from their life. Finally, I would like to tell you that everyone should have this ability to take all things on time for a better future, and it will become more efficient. The more efficiently we act, the more time we will have leftover for future projects. If we look all around important events of history, then we will see that all successful people of history made the best use of time. The prosperous people of the world are very conscious of the value of time. Hence, we should never waste our time and try to make the best use of it.

Failure is a stepping stone to success
Failure and success are the two sides of a coin. Like success, we should accept failure also. This saying means that if a person fails once, he should not lose heart. He should observe his mistakes and try to overcome them in his next attempt. Repeated efforts lead one to success. Failure gives us a new point of view through which we can achieve success. So, we should always regard failure as the first step or stepping stone to success. The story of King Bruce and the spider is the best example. He lost eight battles and the eighth time he lost very heavily so that he had to hide in a cave. There he saw a spider trying to build a web. The spider could not link the web at a particular point though it tried several times. But finally, it was successful. This inspired him and he again organized an army that defeated his enemies finally. So, failures should not be regarded as the inefficiency of the person. If a man armed with the experiences of failure picks up the courage and goes on a thing, success will be his. Failures provide a chance for self-improvement, so we should face them boldly and cheerfully.

Sketching by itself is an art that gives peace and pleasure. It is an ideal way to develop a concrete illustration on every idea imagined. It is a great way to communicate your ideas to another person and also to stimulate creativity and open-ended thoughts, making the mind think in a different manner. It can also help the person to fight against depression because when a person is depressed he/she is unable to make contacts with people. Though they start expressing their thoughts in ways like sketching, writing books, poems, etc. As I've been making sketches for the last 2 years, I know what kind of satisfaction and relaxation it feels when the execution of the art is the same way you thought of. For me, this is the way to moderate myself.

Thinking and believing in good, would give you hope in life , that ‘s why we say , ‘ Let's  hope for the best’ . And learning, reading, listening and knowing something new every day , helping others when they are in need gives you good hope in life. It is actually impossible for anyone to continue living without hope. Someone can say they have no hope in life , but still they have  hope deep inside .  Hope is to believe  things will work, especially when it seems problematic. Hope means HOLD ON PAIN ENDS.
Lastly a quote,
We must accept finite disappointment , but never lose infinite hope.
Tamanna Solanki / VII
A Goal is a Must
A Goal is a Must in Life, because without a goal no one has been successful and never will be.
No individual wants to fail in his life, but still, they fail because they fail in planning or they do not have proper planning and for proper planning, it is a must that your goal should be clear. because If you don't have a goal then you can't do planning and if you can't do planning you cannot be successful. Life without a goal is like that: suppose you are standing on a bus stand and you have to go somewhere but you don't know where to go, So you sit in which bus? Because different buses go into different routes. And if you don't know where to go then where do you land? And most importantly how much time gets wasted. So, life without a goal is just like you left your home and want to go somewhere but you don't know where to go. Then you will leave the house but after time passes you will be back home nothing productive will happen, only your time will be wasted. So always convert your task to a goal. But only by setting a goal, the goal is not achieved. You have to do proper planning to achieve your goal. Because if you want to go on tour for a few days and you don't do proper planning then it cannot be successful then how you think that our life will be successful without planning. So, whether it is study, job, business or any field you have to set a goal and then stick to that goal.

Happiness is a feeling of pleasure and positivity. When someone feels good, proud, excited or satisfied about something, that person is said to be "happy". Feeling happy may help people to relax and to smile. Happiness is something which we can’t describe in words it can only be felt from someone’s expression of a smile. Every day we see and meet people who look happy from the outside but deep down they are broken and are sad from the inside. For many people, money is the main cause of happiness or grief. But this is not right. Money can buy you food, luxurious house, healthy lifestyle servants, and many more facilities but money can’t buy you happiness.
And if money can buy happiness then the rich would be the happiest person on the earth. But, we see a contrary image of the rich as they are sad, fearful, anxious, stressed, and suffering from various problems. we can say that happiness can only be achieved by having positive thinking and enjoying life. Also, for being happy and keeping the people around us happy we have to develop a healthy relationship with them

The Indian spy "Black Tiger"

Have you ever thought about where did the Indian agency get information about other country's planning for an attack? Have you ever heard about a spy or RAW agent who gives information about the attack or anything? Their life is full of risk if they are caught by the country police. Indian Army or Indian agency cannot help him and after that, he cannot say that he is an Indian guy because the RAW destroys his evidence of being a citizen of India.

I will tell you about a guy who was known as a black tiger. Ravindra Kaushik was born on 11th April 1952 and died in November 2001. He was the stage actor in Punjab. The RAW officer saw him acting and added him to RAW and he was sent to Pakistan where he got a new identity and changed himself into Islam. His new name was Nabi Ahmed Shakir. He later completed his LLB from Karachi and joined the Pakistan army and became a Commissioner officer. Later he was promoted to the rank of a major on the personal front. Shakir married a girl named Amanat and became a father of a girl. From 1979 to 1983 he passed on critical information to the Indian defense forces which was a great help. Because of the valuable information being sent by nabi, he became famous as the 'black tiger' in the Indian defense circle, a name conferred by Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. He was caught when Inayat Masha was sent by RAW to get in touch with him. Inadvertently blew his cover to the Pakistan forces. In interrogation, in September 1983 he was sentenced to death in 1985 for spying but the punishment was later reduced to life imprisonment. He died in jail in November 2001. He was buried behind that jail.

This is how he was given the title of "The Black Tiger" for his valuable contribution towards India.
