Diwali
Diwali is the festival of lights. It is the festival of renovation of surroundings and rejoices of people. According to Hindu mythology New Year starts for the Hindus the next day. The Hindus celebrate this festival because Lord Rama had returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. The people were happy so the lighted diyas to welcome him. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi comes home on Diwali so people do Lakshmi Puja to welcome Goddess Lakshmi in their house. First of all cleaning is done. After that Lakshmi Puja is done at night and children burst crackers and have fun. Diwali is the festival of lights which brings lots of happiness so we should not pollute by bursting too many crackers and we should make it a happy and safe Diwali. - Aman Qureshi (Class X)
